• Introduction: Yao Jungang graduated from the Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts Chinese Painting Department and is now a painter at the Shenyang Academy of Painting and Calligraphy. He was taught by Feng Yuan, Wu Shanming, and Liu Guohui. Yao Jungang is a figure painter with strong lines and accurate modeling. He specialized in drawing horses, and his lifelike horses are wild, casual and unrestrained, and expressive. His horse is noble, elegant, and handsome. It is not a tamed horse pulling a cart, but a galloping horse on the grassland. There are beautiful Mongolian girls on the horses' backs, carrying long poles. The vast grasslands are perfectly complimented by the girls' beauty and the subtle expression in their eyes. His work is an equilibrium between strength and softness, harmony and unity.

Painting Description: The Chinese believe that horses are very auspicious animals. They also love to watch them. The horses that he painted were both handsome and elegant, and there was sweetness in their elegance. It is difficult to paint horses both elegantly and depict real-life wilderness, but the painter did it skillfully. The horses painted by him are very beautiful, elegant in composition, and flexible in lines. The spirit of his horses is outstanding, with bulging muscles and strong bones. The horses are seen galloping across the rivers of the motherland. Yao Jungang’s traditional paintings of horses are well received by people and critics alike, whether it be a calm steed or an agitated horse, the horses are always handsome and uplifting. When quiet, the stallion is as docile as a lady. When it gallop, it is like a dragon soaring in the clouds. In appearance, it was not majestic like a horse, but elegant and fierce like a dragon. Horses are majestic, strong animals that have the power to make us feel as if we can do anything, especially when one is on its back.
